Lent has begun

"Well, Lent has begun and the time of sacrifice and repentance is here." Father Moreau said this during the homily at Mass on Ash Wednesday night. I have decided as my Lenten resolution to make a holy hour every week at St. Peter and Paul's adoration chapel. I still feel like I should be doing something else though. I am trying to get into some Lenten reading like Suzanne mentioned, but I still feel like I should be doing more. Any other suggestions? At times, I think about my little sacrifices and then reflect on Christ's ultimate sacrifice and I feel like I'm not doing enough. Oh well, I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. I know God is happy with my daily sacrifices and yet, I want to do so much more. Anyway, it's the effort that counts right? Thank you again for all your continued prayers and I will continue to pray for you during this Lenten season.
God Bless,
Mary

I like to make sacrifices for different people during the day. Once I fasted on bread and water for a day. It was hard. Lenten reading is really good... sometimes I'll read a chapter in the Imitation of Christ and the next day try and work on whatever virtue or thing it's talking about. It helps to do that sort of reading, because then I realize what my weaknesses are and how to overcome them. And of course there is always the opportunity to deny yourself the extra luxury or unnecessary thing, for Christ's sake and for the souls in Purgatory or someone you know who really needs the prayers and sacrifices.

So... there's a few ideas. There's really so much we can do for God, and it's always a nice feeling to know that we're doing something that makes Him happy. :) God bless you in all your efforts!

Adoration is a very good idea. I find it helpful in learning to meditate.

I can't really help you with anything other ideas, since I am still looking myself. I think Madeline mentioned so good ones. I think I will try some too.
